I overlooked it at the time, but on reflection, he’s bang out of order. Nothing less than an apology can put it right.

Does anyone know if there are any Sorabji performances planned for the coming 12 months?

Yes, post #8 - and the context was?(!)...

I don't think that anyone needs to apologise to anyone else here...(!)...

!!! - although some of them would on for only seconds (albeit not including Piano Symphony No. 4, as premièred by Rennie-er van Houdt)...

Yes. So far, they're all by Jonathan Powell and all of one work, Opus Clavicembalisticum, as follows:

050517 Brighton, UK St. Michael’s Church

??0517 London, UK Rosslyn Hill Chapel

130517 Oxford, UK Jacqueline du Pré Music Building

              011017 Karlsruhe, Germany Musentempel

061017 Glasgow, Scotland Concert Hall, Glasgow University

301017 Brno, Czechia Concert hall JAMU (Janacek Academy)

A further partial performance may take place in Paris in April 2017 (no date or venue yet confirmed) as well as complete ones in the Conservatorio in Padova, Italy in May, 2017, in Darmstadt later this year and possibly also in China, but none of these are yet finalised.

A performance of most of Organ Symphony No. 2 was given by Kevin Bowyer the week before last in University of Iowa to inaugurate its new Klais instrument and one of the first 9 of Opus Clavicembalisticum's 12 movements in Tokyo last Sunday given by Hiroaki Ooi.

Thanks Alistair. The Oxford University venue is great, but it means a drive for me. Do you know if the London concert is confirmed? I’d prefer to stay local.

I see you are giving the pre-concert talk at Oxford. Are you giving the talk at the London concert, too?

I don't yet know what the London date is to be but, so far, I had only planned to give a talk at the Oxford performance.

OC has never in its near 90-year history had so much exposure within the space of less than a year!

Well, perhaps not "here", but I certainly owe a sincere apology to Mr Sorabji.

Don't worry about it! If you could see what he wrote to his friend Philip Heseltine about the way in which his name has been messed around and misunderstood, you'd realise that well! - "My name is a curious one. It is either Sorabji-Shapurji or Shapurji-Sorabji but as people make such a ghastly hash of it we generally call ourselves Sorabji 'tout court'. We have been called among other things Swabby; Soggy; Soralli, Swabbi[sic], Sorbi, Soppy[,] Serabby; Sorabeeji, etc: etc: etc: etc. to 40 places of decimals!!

                      So it goes (or went)...

I have an idea, let’s call him Leon Dudley.

I have enjoyed listening, and trying to follow, some of this stuff today.
So many notes he had to use more than 2 staves and find pianists with more than 10 fingers.

And, while we're at it, let's call you Monsieur Lebœuf!

As you may know, Sorabji and Alan Bush were great friends; it's a wonder, though, given that the latter's middle name was Dudley...
