I actually saw Svetlanov perform one of his own pieces with the LSO in April 1979 but can't remember what the devil it was! I also went to the morning rehearsal in the RFH and the LSO were rather naughtily having some fun with the chugging rhythms of the work. I will have the programme somewhere.

Just seen this - I'll definitely give Svetlanov's works a try. (I'm eternally grateful to him for his recording of Rachmaninov's 1st symphony - knocks spots off every other recording of the work which I've heard so far.)

Apparently his music is highly regarded in Russia.
Does anyone on here know this piece or any of ES's works?
        Roehre maybe?
I can't understand why this one failed to get on the list I have been compiling.

        It must be added immediately.

Yes,apologies Lat,I had forgotten about him.
His Symphony is a good listen (DSCHy and Rachmaninovy) and it's available in the Naxos Library.
