    Purcell, Henry (1659-95)

Our local station was playing a lot of Purcell today. There must have been a major anniversary for him today. I pulled out my David Munrow recording of Come, Ye Sons of Art. Great stuff.

Harmonia Mundi have just re-released the fine recording of the keyboard suites by Kenneth Gilbert - it's a lovely disc, Richard.

I have quite an extensive collection of Purcell's music, including Alfred Deller, and Christopher Hogwood's magnificent set of his complete theatre Music. Great set!

Barbara Bonney in Dido's Lament is a very special piece of singing.

A live concert by one of the best countertenors currently active.

Great singing with absurd (to me) dancing. I wish there were a CD version of this performance.
