    Sammartini brothers COTW w/c 30.12.13

Still available on listen again. Doesn't seem to have attracted much interest. A slack week between Christmas and New Year perhaps? I have some of Giovanni Sammartini's symphonies on disc.

I have just looked through the playlists for the programmes, Mark. What seems to be missing from them are some nice performances I recently got hold of on the budget Brilliant label, featuring the Italian period band Accademia d'Arcadia. A good selection of late symphonies, well worth acquiring.

Heard bits during the week - pleasant music, but it had somewhat of a 'by the yard' feel that didn't set the pulse racing, I thought
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

All of the symphonies were from the Naxos set. Suggesting that there aren't very many recordings (or the producers didn't look very far afield)?

Certainly not as far as the Brilliant Classics discs, Mark!
