(Except for Le Tissier, of course).

Anyway, some of the music has been jolly pleasant, but I have to agree that lesser known baroque types do seem a bit over represented on COTW.
Frescobaldi: but not his music? Try this.
Girolamo Frescobaldi I Libro di Capricci 1624,Gustav Leonhardt

Lesser known composers: That’s because there are only four not lesser know Baroque composers: Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Telemann

Jommelli: The music is, I think, more enjoyable than anything profound but, as often with CoW, I found the background of the music very interesting.

You have a good point about how few baroque composers are well known. (Corelli, Bocherini?)
anyway, I saw a list somewhere recently of "well known" composers, and it was indeed striking how the numbers escalated through the centuries. Wish I could remember where that list was (and if there were any criteria !)

I'll try some Frescobaldi, though I have heard bits and bobs.

His "Aria Detta La Frescobalda" has long been a staple of the guitar repertoire, thanks to Segovia

Listening to today’s last offering (Armida’s aria), I find it hard to think that this music is in the same category/period as Purcell’s. To me, the term Baroque doesn’t really suit English music of the period.
