Lesser known composers: That’s because there are only four not lesser know Baroque composers: Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Telemann
Jommelli: The music is, I think, more enjoyable than anything profound but, as often with CoW, I found the background of the music very interesting.
You have a good point about how few baroque composers are well known. (Corelli, Bocherini?)
anyway, I saw a list somewhere recently of "well known" composers, and it was indeed striking how the numbers escalated through the centuries. Wish I could remember where that list was (and if there were any criteria !)
I'll try some Frescobaldi, though I have heard bits and bobs.

Listening to today’s last offering (Armida’s aria), I find it hard to think that this music is in the same category/period as Purcell’s. To me, the term Baroque doesn’t really suit English music of the period.
