    Composers of the Chapel(s) Royal

What a fascinating CotW, both musically and historically. The immediate post-Restoration was a fertile and imaginative time for English musicians. Many were 'gentlemen' of the Chapel Royal...indeed some started out as Cooke's boys....but they seemed equally at home writing for the court or for the theatre. I congratulate CotW for its choice of musical examples played so far this week Truly delightful listening.

I'd just add that Friday's programme was especially informative from the historical point of view. It detailed the rather dark period of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

Each of the programmes was fascinating, and a lot of the music was good. I hope he does the next 200 years soon.
