You can never get enough of Worcestershire's finest, IMO.

Yes - when I saw the thread I assumed it was a new one about this week's programmes (although reaching 4 pages after just one programme did surprise me!). I enjoyed Monday's (& I'm not normally an Elgar person), & I enjoyed the range of music - from the sublime - Sospiri, which I thought was quite beautiful - to the ridiculous - The King's Way.

Agreed. The trouble was that Alice would write these verses...

That is to say, that Elgar is once again composer of the week, not that 3VS seems to be less than eneamoured of the fact.

Especially as I only caught up with the podcasts over Christmas...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I have suggested, on another thread, that somebody might be trying to lure at least some of Simon Heffer's listeners to 4 weeks of British composers on CotW (it's Walton - another repeat - next week).

So now you can hear more of the music than you get on the podcast.

Indeed I never bother with the COTW podcasts as the amount of music you actually get to hear is pitiful. There are ways around it you know.

It's true. Actually, I don't mind the fact that the podcast exists with shortened extracts. If there are pieces I want to hear, I go and find them. if the composer is not one whose music appeals, I'm usually still interested in the life story and don't have to listen to too much of their stuff
