Actually, at one point, IIRC Late Junction made a bit of a thing about showing the interactions, partic in Muslim influenced and Jewish Andalucian music and instruments etc IIRC x 2, Jordi Savall weaves such into much of his repertoire, doesn't he?

Not to mention Belinda Sykes and Joglaresa, amd Lucy Skeaping and her Burning Bush.

How can I have missed that Basil Lam series? Wish I could hear it now!

        V. decent week. BUT I wondered about the Landini segment bulking so large. And IMO it seemed that the week tended to come to a halt.

I was hoping for a bit more on how we get from 14th century closer to earlier reaches of more complex polyphony.

Or maybe I missed the direction of the strategy?

I'm not certain the connections and disconnections between sacred and secular musics of the period were adequately brought out; but I enjoyed most of the music so much I intend to give the whole week a second go at the first opportunity.

If I remember correctly, Jean, it used to be broadcast quite late at night, so maybe that's why you didn't catch it. I wonder if it is still in the BBC archives. He was a great scholar and had a very nice broadcasting voice, too.
