All a bit superlative this thread, but rightly so. I thought this week's CotW was absolutely brilliant, and I really loved the performances of all the music played. Especially intriguing today was to hear how Ferrara ended up as Papal property and how Luzzaschi's m/s were handed over (virtually at sword-point) to a cardinal from Mantua...where of course Marenzio and Monteverdi worked.

I remember as an undergrad learning about 'The Three Ladies of Ferrara'. It seems there were many more than three!

      - and a particular joy for me was hearing the wonderful and greatly missed Tessa Bonner in the last three items of the final programme this week. All five programmes have represented R3 - and the BBC - at its very considerable best.

Just listening again to this before it disappears - did anyone else hear that snatch of news about Venezuela intruding itself into the last item?
