How much shorter is the COTW podcast?

    Hello all
I have a podcast app on my phone which i use to subscribe to the COTW podcast. Each podcast announces itself as being the "highlights edition" of the program. How much is cut off compared with a full week's work of shows?

I've been trying to work it out: it's mostly the speech element as there's a limit (or there was) on how long classical extracts can be on downloads. Uninformed guess: about half the original???
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I don't listen to the podcasts, but along the lines of the previous response, I think its to do with royalties - I think short extracts avoid substantial royalty payment - the radio broadcast was a "one-off" play of the recording, but giving away a download to be retained for the future is a further distribution of it. As staff time has to be spent editing the programme down from the broadcast, there must be an imperative, and that would probably (inevitably?) be financial.

Thanks for it, if it's just the music that is missing I can live that. Just hoping they were not cutting down on the info.

I downloaded the podcast to my desktop but only seemed able to start and stop it.

From the R3 website it seems as if the 5 hours weekly are condensed into about 1 hour.
