All very Sam Jackson. Could we not just send him over to Radio Two?

It was,of course, deliberately provocative. I think we each know where we, individually, would draw a line.

....Nick....is the vertical rotation of deep- fried dough and the likelyhood of the use of a quoit retention device (in the first part) and a casual lunar journey (in the second part) got anything to do with your OP.....

Whisk, wing and telemark (who knew that?)
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

So Vaughan Williams 5th Symphony would squeak in but the fourth wouldn’t ?

Brittens Violin concerto would just make it but not the piano concerto ?

you might have a point …

... I didn't want to exclude the Tippett Double Concerto - otherwise I might've set a later terminus antequam non...

This sequence might be considered basic but it certainly is beautiful, artistic and great fun to dance...if you know your way around the different body posit...

This Dance COTW is an exercise in pointlessness. Not a single “insight” worth hearing - who cares ?
It was however a pleasure to hear the peerless Duke Ellington’s superb solo on ‘Take The A Train’. But is it dance music ? Quite possibly ..

I was told once by a very reliable source that the Basie band had their own lyrics for ‘One O’Clock Jump ‘ their usual play out music. They went :

”That’s the end , the dance is over , mother……rs all go home.”

                            Fits the notes beautifully…

Fits America's role in world affairs today beautifully, too........

PS just added a post to the Margaret Bonds thread which is a good example of the above…

as so often I agree with you Rumpole ….
