'Facing Goya' gets the occasional outing in these parts (on disc, that is..)

1: You obviously haven't been listening to Radio 1 for a long time (as visualnick says)
        and
2: Is it "dreadful" because it is repetitive ?

        and if so
        does

        repetitive=dreadful ?

        and if that is true

What would happen if La Monte was COTW

La Monte Young was monotonous, rather than repetitive...

Last time I looked he IS rather than WAS

(I wasn't suggesting that his music WAS repetitive more that if folks find Nyman "difficult" then ......)

I would think that once you have worked out which sounds you want in your music why have any others ?

Like Cage's quoting Debussy who, on being asked as to how he composed music, said words to the effect: "I take all the notes that there are, I leave out the ones I don't want, and I use the rest".

If you want Nyman irony, try his "Think Slow, Act Fast", especially as performed by Hoketus, for whom he composed it.

Rubbish or not, his music annoys the hell out of me after about 4 seconds

I'm actively avoiding COTW this week
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Have to say; Schubert lieder has the same effect on me, but LOVE his piano and chamber music

Hm. Although "which sounds you want in your music" could be "things you haven't heard before"...
