The Lyrita label was (is) a wonderful collection of neglected British music and I have all of the Moeran, Bax and Alwyn symphonies on LP still in my collection.
Great label, possibly my favourite - I have many Lyrita CDs. In fact I was playing Thea Musgrave's Concerto For Orchestra earlier.
Many wonderful neglected British works made available because of Lyrita.
It's good to know the label is continuing and there are 2 new releases in the pipeline.
RIP Richard Itter.

A great servant of British 20th century music.

Really really sad news, but what a legacy Saint Richard of Itter has given us: I remember weeping for joy when the Nimbus rep revealed to me that the whole back catalogue on the Lyrita label would be available on CD, as I was at the time classical buyer for a well known record outlet (subsequently of course gone to the devil, like all good things).
And that there will be new releases coming soon can only be a good thing: there are one or two gaps in my collection to be filled, otherwise I think I've got the lot on LP and CD. Lyrita: a blessed gift for those interested in British music.
RIP Richard
