    Hilarious Muti quotes

Nice to see a conductor "keeping it real" and being so witty

Love the one about 22 year olds conducting the Missa Solemnis

I have a lot of time for this man. In saw him quite a bit In Milan when I was living near there. he has mellowed considerably since his Philharmonia days. Very interesting schedule for next season.
I hope he brings the Chicago to Europe next season.
    Love the "Berlusconi" quote.

I mean, without culture, wouldn't there still be the great Italian food?

Maestro Muti breaking Beecham's rules of rehearsal .... and amusing the orchestral players with his candour too

Don't Italians (Mediterraneans?)regard food and hospitality as an art form, even a simple bruschetta and a salad?

Absolutely Right! Am, Food to an Italian IS a part of the culture. I should know - been there - done it - am it (well 50% anyway).
BUT I am awful glad I don't live there anymore.
