      The trouble with doing a piano reduction of Ravel's great work is that a Russian has already done it, so you do risk comparison.

            That's a bit long-winded. On my 1995 version of Sibelius 7 (yes I do mean Sibelius 7) you can delete a time signature simply by selecting it and pressing "delete". Alternatively, you can input invisible barlines (though if you forget to switch off the numbering, you could be "found out").

              But the bars (even if you hide the barlines) remain in the Time signature that you've deleted - and it still won't let you cross a barline with a tuplet so that you have have a hidden time signature of 128/1 (or whatever) if you want to write Music in multiple (simultaneous) metres.

                Yes, that's true, even with the 1995 version (which I still use).
