I think that David Beckham's behaviour as a father is exemplary. Sure he & his wife chooses unusual name but that's not a hanging offence, surely.

      There are no polite words.

I really, really hope that soft porn united get relegated.
It's funny how the NYOL and that concert in Vienna come around at the same time - anachronisms both, beloved by some, not by me

Rather helps to explain how Tottenham got shafted in the Stadium process too. Very dirty business.

This certainly would not have been for his services on the soccer pitch in recent years. Sir Alex Ferguson (a pretty good judge I would think) sold him in 2003 to Real Madrid when he felt his contribution to the team was on the wane. I believe Beckham was never the same player but when he was at Real Madrid and later Los Angeles Galaxy and on loan to AC Milan wherever he went merchandise sales were maximised. One might say that soccer clubs were buying a celebrity, male model who could cross the ball wonderfully.

So if any potential knighthood was to be given it cannot have been for football reasons so then it must have been for having tattoos, stating how much he loves his unusually named children and for his good looks. Well, I have two of those attributes. What me jealous of his handsome looks, certainly not!
Most of Beckham's services this year appear to have benefited France, America and David Beckham. I would have thought that after the money he has made out of the English game he might have put some back maybe as a player-coach in the lower leagues!

                          teamsaint: excellently put!

Ample proof (as if it was needed) of what an archaic and nonsensical thing the honours system. The whole thing is rubbish.

I'll spare you the Wiki links Mary, but in short....
She is CEO (or similar) at West Ham United . Previously she was CEO at Birmingham city. Main point is that she works for Gold and Sullivan, 2 very rich men who made their money at the Star and other soft porn type publishing ventures.

Not a group of people you would want to cross, and also, unhappily responsible for getting this deal to be more or less given the olympic stadium.
West Ham will be the Olympic Stadium tenants after the government increases its funding by £25m to about £60m.

The deal is £15m up front, £2m a year rent, conversion costs (of approx £200 million) to a football stadium at public expense. There were other bidders, notably Tottenham,a bigger and wealthier club, but a highly lucrative deal was given to WHU . Interesting that Brady is a staunch Conservative supporter.
(by which I mean supporter of the present government, no party political point intended).

Or indeed the judge who asked "What is a Kylie Minogue?"
