Thanks. Re your '(sic)' - as we are all a mere 'subset of the Radio 4 audience' it won't matter if Radio 3 gives up the music talks as long as Radio 4 takes them over ...It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

AAMOF I don't have a problem with R4 broadcasting classical music programmes; after all I believe it's part of its remit to cover the arts. Keeping such programmes purely on R3 is more likely to see classical music marginalised.
Interestingly, a couple of the (American) contributors appear to have misunderstood Brahms believing the composition to be an expression of Brahms' faith in God.
