    Max news.

Quite apart from the sentiments expressed the real news is that his cancer is no longer threatening to kill him.

Three cheers for HMQ's most unlikely court composer.

(posted before I noticed the rather vitriolic attack on this forum, apologies)

I must have missed it too. Max has a good many supporters here who I feel sure will be only too eager to join you in wishing him continued restored health.

Too true Bryn! And thanks for this news Stephen Whitaker - I see Max quite often at Royal Academy of Music in London where he teaches and we have a nod in passing - I'm usually on my way to a masterclass or free concert given by some of RAM's students - I feel so bloody lucky to have largely free access to this wonderful centre of learning & creativity. Well done Max!

Good to hear that the news he is on the mend is now in the public domain

I wonder what he REALLY said though ?
Having had conversations with him in the past about these things i'm always suspicious of the "spin" that the media put on things.....

Do you mean "spin" on his illness or "spin" on his thoughts about musical education, MrGG?

            Or both?

The messager concerned was a certain neilmcgowan, 7 days ago, just to offer bearings.

I think his thoughts about music education
                        not his illness

                            And he says:

Sir Peter is clearly right. Sadly fogeyish conservative organisations - such as the Friends of Radio Three, who revel in their unashamedly 'elitist" stance - do nothing to help. The nutcase woman in charge of that organisation even brays that she approves of BBC Radio 3 not producing a single program aimed at young people at all.
One has to understand that Mr McGowan/Reiner Torheit has been carrying out a vendetta against FoR3 for years. He has no particular interest in children's radio (why nothing about Radio 4 dropping its children's programmes?) - and he has been told that right from Day One of our existence we have supported the idea of special programming for children on Radio 3 - and have submitted that view to the BBC Trust. But that isn't what he's about

He's not above criticising R3 himself! He loves invective...

Haven't had time to read what Max has to say in the article.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

He seems to be about nth rate amateurish opera productions and toadying after Putin and his chums, from what I can garner.

                              Sad really.
