This is very sad news. Only recently I've been playing my way through the set of Beethoven piano sonatas that he recorded for Nimbus - integrity shines through every performance.

I recall hearing him playing the Diabelli variatios at Wigmore Hall too.

The last survivor of that wonderful string trio of David Martin and his wife Florence Hooton.
He was the rock upon which great performances were given.

I bought those after hearing him play Op 109 and the Op 126 Bagatelles. As you say Ams, performances of great integrity.

        A great teacher also.

Bernard's playing was very much my cup of tea. He had a tremendous way with Op 10 no 1, very musical in a way which didn't preclude humour.

This is very sad news, indeed. Bernard Roberts, was a truly gifted pianist, of the highest order. RIP
