Perhaps I'll stop at home with the CD collection and the softly-purring ocelots

I hardly ever listen to vinyl, mainly because I've replaced most of my favourite LP's with CD versions. However, I keep the deck, just in case I can ever get hold of certain recordings (such as the Svetlanov Alpine Symphony) that have never been released in digital formats.

No, but I am considering installing installing machine guns so that no-one tries to remove the record deck on the quiet. Frau A says we don't need it any more.

There is at least a month of banter to be derived from that post, EA. Hard to know where to start.
              Magnificent.

                interesting combo.

Incidentally, getting rid of musical stuff is a bad policy. Beef Oven !, for instance disposed of his Vinyl copy of " Metal Box".

I was following this thread this afternoon and it made me go and find my old Thorens turntable in the loft. It's now dusted and sitting in the living room. My Naim system does not have a phono stage, they like you to pay an extra £325 to plug your record player into your amp.

Anyway, I haven't got any LPs any more, sold them all about 10 years ago.

Why did I get my turntable down??

Hard to say. perhaps EA would make you an offer.
mine's all rigged up and firing. LPs close to hand, its just like the 1970's round here.
(singles are a bit harder to get at, but not impossible. tapes need digitising though......)

I 'inherited' some classic early lps. Such as 60s Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zepp , etc., from a dodgy uncle.
They've mainly gone to Cancer Research who have an expert pricing them. When I've wandered in and seen what I could get in ebay or Amazon for Quadrophenia plus inserts ..... well, I didn't mind. (that much!) as it benefits others ..
