Personally I find it hard to believe. When I first visited the Elgar Birthplace he seemed to have just popped out with the dogs, the lady in charge knew the family and we saw [but didn't speak to] Carice.

2014 also sees the 80th birthdays of Peter Maxwell Davies and Harrison Birtwistle. Some good potential programmes to be had by including their pieces with Elgar and Holst. Delius I can live without .

I expect next year will be dominated by R. Strauss (150 years since his birth). Gluck, Jommeli and CPE Bach were all born in 1714.
