Your 'Music of the Spheres' in B Flat

'In 2003 a team of astronomers led by Dr. Andrew Fabian at Cambridge University discovered the deepest note ever detected, a B♭, after 53 hours of Chandra observations. No human will actually hear the note, because its time period between oscillations is 9.6 million years, which is 57 octaves below middle C. The radio waves appear to be generated by the inflation of bubbles of relativistic plasma by the central active galactic nucleus in NGC 1275 [the Perseus Cluster of galaxies]'

    My nominations:

    1. Bach's Partita No. 1 in B-flat Major BWV 825 (Murray Perahia piano, Trevor Pinnock harpsichord)
    2. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 BWV 1051. (Masaaki Suzuki, Collegium Japan)
    3. Mozart's 'Gran Partita' Serenade K. 361 - the 'Romance' movement. (Zubin Mehta, wind players from the Berliner Philharmoniker)
    4. Mozart's Violin Sonata in B-flat Major K. 454 - Largo (Lars Vogt, Christian Tetzlaff)
    5. Beethoven's String Quartet No. 13 in B-flat Major op. 130 - Cavatina (Belcea, Quartetto Italiano)
It loved to happen. -- Marcus Aurelius

According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

If I understood this thread, I would nominate the Schumann " Spring Symphony" , being in B Flat Major and all.
      Any decent version would do.

Spring of course being heralded by the vernal equinox.

Did I get that right?!(busy day at work.....)

Hang on, the long period between oscillations (9.6m years) must raise issues of historical tuning! So aren't we really looking for works in B, C, or even higher?

B, that's interesting. There's no hint of course whether we're in major or minor mode, so maybe the universe is tuned to provide a tonic pedal to a certain Mass in B minor???
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

So you are secure in the knowledge that the One Big Note (cf Frank Zappa) postdates the appearance of the Higgs boson in our universe, eh? No Higgs, no mass, innit?

This is elementary stuff surely? Or even pre-elementary...

Stuff in B Flat that's good (IMO).

Mendelssohn,Cello Sonata No 1 and String Quintet No 2.

As I've said before, for some reason, I don't particular like much music in B flat, finding it somewhat dull.
So "great" works like Beethoven Symphony 4, Mozart Piano Concerto 27 and most of the suggestions above do little for me.
                    However, there are exceptions:

                    Mozart - Gran Partita
Brahms - Piano Concerto no. 2

For me, B flat major is a dirty green colour. I know it's completely irrational, but could stem from the time when I began playing in this key when I was learning the piano using the Eclipse Piano Tutor.

Bruckner's 5th Symphony, the greatest symphony ever written, according to some.

Suitably cosmic, too. Bruckner makes me think of Sacred Geometry, Pythagoras, and Kepler's Mysterium Cosmographicum

                          I've mentioned this before.
I have a completely irrational love of the words 'C Sharp Minor'.
I'm not a musician and I can't read music but those words make my spine tingle.
It is silver coloured and it looks beautiful on paper,E Major just doesn't have the same ring to it.
                          I know,completely barmy.

You and EA should form Synæsthetes Anonymous.

You could start with the spelling:

Synesthesia (also spelled synæsthesia or synaesthesia, plural synesthesiæ or synæsthesiæ)

                            I'm a sucker for an æ.
