FoR 3 Alternative Film List - The Vote

Below you will find a list of 200 films scores to choose from, in alphabetical order. Choose your favourite scores from these, as many as you like. Put your choices in a posting (don't worry about keeping them in alphabetical order, I can sort that out).

If you are unsure which version of a film is listed below let me know and I'll confirm the date of the film for you.

I hope I've made as wide choice and that your favourites are amongst them.

The post will close at 7:00pm on Friday and I'll announce a top 20 as soon as I can afterwards.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I assume we needn't stick to the list above:

                  Star Wars - Williams
Inn of the Sixth Happiness - Arnold
Clockwork Orange - Beethoven, Purcell et al - Arr Carlos
                  Doctor Zhivago - M Jarre
Lawrence of Arabia - M Jarre
Scott of the Antarctic - VW
Eyes Wide Shut - Shostakovich, Ligeti, et al
                  Close Encounters - Williams
2001: A Space Odyssey - R Strauss, Ligeti, et al
                  The Music Lovers - Tchaikovsky

(I had thought it was a Top Ten, but now I see the number is limitless - I'll stick at these ten though.)

If I may - Just to clarify (and not wishing to invite discussion as to the rules): It is only from the above list, (compiled from boarders' suggestions of original film music)

Sorry. As a 'child of the 60s' I was never any good at sticking to rules. Please delete my Shostakovich, etc - but surely there's a place for Arnold's wonderful "Sixth Happiness" music. The climactic 'This old man', combined with the main theme, is spine-tingling.

Since the thread has been viewed over 150 times so far, the number of Boarders voting has been a bit disappointing so far, but thanks to those who have. Would help if the number of Boarders voting was as high as possible to show what the traditional R3 listeners actually consider their favourite film scores!
