    I would add

The Draughtsman's Contract - Nyman (or maybe one of the other Greenaway collaborations ?)
    Koyaasqatsini - Glass
2001 - Ligeti et al (is that allowed ? )

I'm leaving the logistics of this to Sc! I would say the only rule should be that the music should have been written for a particular film, rather than have had a separate existence and been used or adapted afterwards? But heaven forbid that I should be prescriptive! :-)

I would also propose a closing date for suggestions, to give a bit of time to sort out how to proceed. It's already getting to be a bit of a dead duck. Or deader.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

With all the suggestions from boarders, I think it best to keep as originally suggested. Each boarder to put their top 10 film scores, in order of preference (as near as they can). This does not include films where the music wasn't originally composed for film i.e. Death in Venice with Mahler, 2001 with Ligeti etc.
I say run until next Friday at 7:00pm then I'll complete the processing of the results and announce the winner later that evening. Sound ok ff?

Can't say - as someone who has no interest in cinema, I can't name even one, qua film music (i.e. in context). How many people can name 10 - in order of preference (!?). Does everyone have to start again?

A simpler method is to compile a long list for the OP, and ask people to pick 5,10 from that list (their list, not a committee's). Number of mentions to result in a winner? It all depends how many people are interested in participating.

I agree. A vote means expressing a preference for A, B or C as listed on the ballot paper. Perhaps as frenchie says an original post listing all suggestions received so far (those that quality as original film music written specifically for a certain film, no films that contain bits of borrowed music - for example Purcell reworked, like Clockwork Orange or sections of RVW's work)
Collating personal lists will result in a bit of a nebulous mish-mash, imo, and isn't a vote as such (which can be presented to Radio 3) but merely a list of preferences.

Either way I think I'm going to end up with list of well over 100. If they are choosing from a list then boarders should be allowed to vote for as many as they like from the list and I'll do the calculations from that. With suggestions so far plus mine we've got around 60 films I think. If boarders continue posting with their suggestions today, I'll put together a list of the suggestions when I get back later this evening and start a new thread with the list of suggestions and inviting members to indicate their favourites from this, to run till Friday. Sound more feasible?

I tried to google/wiki for the composer of 'The Way to the Stars' ,a 1940/50s British film about the RAF.

It brought it home to me how USA controlled the boards are - no-one had heard of it.

Ah well, itwouldn't get many votes in that case.

Seems ok to me as well. Perhaps if it could be temporarily as a 'sticky' at the top of the page until voting closes?

Seems to be plenty about it here. Taking its title from the RAF motto and starring Michael Redgrave and John Mills, IIRC.
