Sorry if this has already been dealt with in the thread, but does anyone know how long this wretched film music 'season' will last?

Except that neither of the channels you mention (nor any other, for that matter) has such a naff sense of self-respect that they'd freeze their regular schedules to saturate airtime with "nothing but" Film Music (or the Beatles, or Hoagy Carmichael, or Nat King Cole, or Alistair Cook or whatever). It's only the risible Radio3 that "thinks" these sort of "events" bring it any kind of Kudos.

Til the end of the month, johnb.

And then "Film Music2", "Son of Film Music", "Revenge of Film Music", "Film Music, the Deadly Hollows" (in 3D), "Carry On Film Music" .....

That's NOT all folks....apparently we're not over the hill yet....soon we have the Music of Tom and Jerry Cartoons, and enjoy those swooping string effects as Wily Cayote grabs an anvil and falls from a cliff....and the explosive percussion as he lands....

                  Golly, what fun!

I'll write to Rog asking if we can't have weekly slots for good old Mantovani (that's proper music) and also some Liberace in the tediously dull and ever so snooty Lunch Time Concerts.

Too late! Liberace features on CotW this week (playing the Dream of Olwynn).

Changing the topic a little: I listened to Bruckner's 6th this afternoon and came to the conclusion that he must have written the theme to Lawrence of Arabia

                        Does anyone else agree?
                        Pacta sunt servanda !!!

All good drama relies on conflict....time for programme to analytically clear this Stalling /Quimby dichotomy ....
