Chopsticks et al

[Eine Alpensinfonie]

Some time ago - on the BBC boards I think - I asked for help in identifying a tune that was NOT Chopsticks, but was thought to be by many people:


It's the Flea Waltz (despite the time signature).

But what's this one? I've heard so many children murdering it, but they don't know what it is either.



Any identification greatly appreciated.

It's an enduring example of a "50s (or doo-wop) progression" - e.g. C Am F G (l-vi-lV-V) most frequently played as a duet by a couple of girls learning piano, accompanied by much giggling, in the music room at lunch time when teacher's not there.

This was my immediate reaction when I saw Eine Alpen's example No 3. In my case, I would always chase them out and tell them not to waste time playing such rubbish. I'm sure I'd be disapproved of these days!
