I was of course tempted but restricted m'self to performances on hammering rather than plucking instruments

Cheeky - I like the cut of your jib, SirV (at least, I think I do, not being aware of what a "jib" actually is, and therefore ignorant of how it should be cut).

I'll stick to Bach as 1) I can't confine my favourite repertory to just one particular pianist (I have five favourite pianists just for Ferneyhough) and (2) I prefer to listen to his keyboard works on the sort of instrument bah-di-blah-di-blah. BUT, two pianists make this repertory work for the 20th Century piano so convincingly that I have to mention them: Fischer and Gould.

'Ho hum' - it's interesting that you clearly identify Harald Hoeren as a recommendable player of JC Bach...
Presumably you don't know of the lovely Ingrid Haebler recordings?
if you are able to point us in the direction of Herr Hoeren's recordings ( on the 'cpo' label? ) of JCB's 27 ( spooky!) harpsichord or piano concertos, that would be most welcome!.

I like Ingrid Haebler in Mozart and Schubert, very much. For me her JC Bach concertos are let down by a rather insipid fortepiano.
I like JC Bach a lot: he isn't terribly well served so far as far as solo piano works are concerned - the Hoeren on cpo (op 5 and 17) aren't bad. There's also Robert Woolley (op 17) on chandos.
