The Monster Forts of Nige Kennedy

I posted this article in the 'Men Make Better Conductors' thread, because it was vaguely relevant, but then realised that, apparently it has not been picked up on here, so I'm giving it its own thread. Who is he trying to impress? And how do the words 'I seem to be in as good health as anybody else of my age [56]' fit with the photograph at the top of the piece? http://www.theguardian.com/music/201...tors-overrated

I used to be a huge fan of Nigel Kennedy when he was a youngster and played wonderfully. However I don't think his playing is a patch on what it used to be 30 odd years ago and his behaviour is now so bizarre that I do my best to ignore him.

Furthermore, I have two friends in professional orchestras ( one in London, the other in Scotland ) who have told me real horror stories of his behaviour off stage, one of which made me feel like being sick ( and I'm a nurse! ).

I often wonder what his great mentor, Menuhin, would have made of his behaviour.

Nige may be heading for trouble as a result of the interview linked to in the OP.

I'm sorry, but try as I might with Kennedy, I do think that he is, in common parlance, a bit of a knob.

A middle class knob. Trying to get extra votes for posh Glenda and Labour. Tut, tut.

Nigel Kennedy may be investigated by police after he reportedly told a newspaper he allowed a friend to vote at the last election with his wife's voting card.

I bought some pickled walnuts in Fortnum's once, does it mean I'm posh?

Mr Offord, MP for Hendon, told MPs: "This admission undermines the democratic process and is a criminal offence.

"There's been many accusations that there's been voting irregularities in many seats, including my own, but this is the first time someone has publicly admitted to being complicit in the act of impersonation.

                    the whole edifice is "irregular"

It's a very posh bit of London, so we must expect things to be a bit different. Anyway, it was an extra vote for Labour, it's not as if it was done for the benefit of the Tory/Whig coerlician.

I love the way that Nige still manages to inspire faux outrage in the stuffier "music lovers".......
and I thought it was "all about the music" ?
