Performers who died too young

well since we are on all genres, one who went far too young, and all but unnoticed was the truly great Adrian Borland, of The Sound.

Adrian's music deserved so much better than its commercial fate, but he left a great deal of wonderful music, which one day will be appreciated by a wider audience.

There is great music waiting to be discovered here, rock fans. Let me know if you want a recommendation.

Thanks for that, umslopogass. I did read somewhere else (The Strad?! ) that 'her Stradivarius was broken but not burned'. So, presumably, the remains are somewhere.

I also read in Henri Temianka's book 'Facing the music', that 'Thibaud and Neveu died with their instruments in plane crashes'. So, presumably, both Strads were damaged beyond repair.

Otis Ray Redding, Jr. (September 9, 1941 – December 10, 1967) just missed being a member of the "27 Club", his last UK performance was at the Hammersmith Odeon with the Stax Tour, Otis, Arthur Conley, Eddie (Knock on Wood) Floyd, Sam and Dave all backed by the incomparable Booker T. , which went on 'til nearly midnight, almost unheard of! However his mode of dying was a plane crash and not drugs etc.

Or maybe taken off the coat and gloves when indoors... so he "felt the benefit" on going outside (as my Granny used to say).

I think the tragic spot of Marc Bolan's fatal crash is near Barnes Common and I'm sure that the equally tragic spot where Eddie Cochran met his maker is in Chippenham, where, coincidentally, (I assure you), I was born. Chippenham has been hinted at as a nowhere kind of place in this forum but I think Eddie gives the place a definite status.

Criteria would be in disastrous taste...but Bolan's short but extraordinary creative peak seemed to be well behind him, sadly.
What an amazing character he was. Seemed, to a 10 year old from suburban Southampton, to have come from another planet. I had never seen anybody even remotely like him !!

Ian Curtis went far too young of course, as did Malcolm Owen.
