I am currently listening to a CD of music by two Composers who died very young from TB: Arriaga (Symphony in D) and Vorisek (also in D, and like the Hapsburg Empire, I regret that I cannot write diacritics). An excellent disc by Mackerras and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra

They really broke the mould. Still a hero for me. The world could do with alex right now.

Incidentally, we used to have a bloke called simply Beef oven round here.

Hope you arent as bonkers as he was.
      Great coincidence.

From the HIP stable, harpsichordist/fortepianist Christopher Kite, violinist Micaela Comberti and oboeist David Reichenberg. All much missed by me.

And then there's Elliott Carter; OK, he didn't exactly die young (and he was not a performer) but he certainly died prematurely while he still had plenty more work to do.

Yes, Alex Harvey was too young to die and not too old to rock and roll! Never forget his version of 'Tomorow Belongs To Me'.

            I'm not bonkers.

Happily it seems that Linda Esther Gray does not belong in this thread. Wikipedia offers this:"Gray retired from the opera stage in 1982 after an illness left her unable to continue. She has been described as "one of the most lyric of modern sopranos", and was "expected to be the next Callas".After many years of seclusion from the media she published her autobiography in 2007: A Life Behind Curtains: A Singer's Silent Sounds. She is now an opera coach working from her home in Surrey."

Linda Esther Gray is not dead. She lost her voice and retired early. She is now a singing coach.

Or maybe taken off the coat and gloves when indoors... so he "felt the benefit" on going outside (as my Granny used to say).

What's up, Beefy? You're in and out like a dog at a fair! (as my Granny also used to say!)
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
