Would have missed this S_A, so used to Saturday Classics kicking off at 3pm. Intrigued it says music by *The Mighty Sparrow, (my eldest brother at one time lived and worked Trinidad and Tobago, he bought it there, passed it on to me some years ago, I passed it to the charity shop couple of months ago. I thought I was the only one who had ever heard of him!) Sounds an interesting programme.
*Edit: although he's not on the playlist.

Enjoying the programme, thanks S_A for heads up (wish now I'd held on to Mighty Sparrow .... but I no longer have a turntable) Hope Django does more Saturday Classics, bit of fresh air isn't it rather than the usual plodding stuff?

As I understand it, there are two broadcasts involving Django Bates; the first is based on Music inspired by birds and includes Music by Ravel and Rautavaara. The second is the "Charlie Parker Prom", led by Bates, with Music by the Bebop maestro whose nickname was "Bird".
