    brass band multi-tasking

Just been sent this - it made me (and daughters) laugh out loud:

Mnozil Brass is a brass septet band originally from Austria.

    Great conception, brilliantly executed

Excellent! I shall copy it to a particular female subordinate at work who proclaims it as an irrefutable scientific fact that 'men cannot multi-task'
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Yes, and I love the dead-pan, slightly bored look on his face throughout!

The title of this thread is rather misleading.

Yes it is. Obviously someone unfamiliar with brass bands. How about we call a wind quintet a wind band, or a string quartet a string orchestra?

indeed! I do wish people can get their facts right before posting?

Blimey, title simply lifted from the site in a quick posting - talk about missing the point

Brass bandsmen were always sensitive souls.

No - just a question of taking or missing the point of a post.

Fwiw, I am familiar with brass bands. Ironically (in retrospect), I paused fleetingly before submitting the post and wondered whether to change the word band to ensemble, but was in a hurry and decided not to bother as it wasn't important! I just thought some people might be amused by the clip....Oh well, lesson learned .

I didn't think it was misleading at all, it's an amusing clip...!

all round, perhaps... and a couple of plus a or two...?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Always good to see a host in full command of his smileys - might be worth finding an <oil on troubled waters> emoticon?

Anyway, must now down tools and head for the train station: off to this evening's SCO prom, about which there has been precisely no advance comment in the Proms Concerts sub-forum! I expect the brass section to remain seated throughout and to stick to one instrument/both hands...

I feel much the same when people refer to "wind and brass". Do they think brass instruments are played with sticks or bows?
