Ida Haendel at Cadogan Hall 5/7/13

Just wondering if anyone else on here attended this wonderful evening last Friday?
It felt a privilege to be in the presence of possibly the last link to a golden age of violinists. The interview with Rob Cowan (who was terrific) showed her to be very witty and I really enjoyed her refreshing honesty and humility.
Shame we didn't get to hear her play more. What we did hear was a wonderful Enescu Sonata no.3
This woman should receive a damehood IMHO.

Glad to hear she was on form after recent reports.

I agree entirely that it is unfathomable that a musician of her talent and incredibly long contribution to British musical life has not been made a Dame when you consider how many conductors with far less talent than her have been knighted .

Thanks forthe report. Glad she was on form - I would love to have been there, having seen herin concerts and rehearsals for many years.

One of the greats and thank goodness for my cassettes and CDs of her playing in her prime.
