"Excited" is probably the wrong word for the occasion, but Mahler 9/LSO/Haitink at the Barbican on Tue.

The 1987 Kirstmatinee Haitink/Concertgebouworkest version found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjYs99atLUI may be rather different to what will be on offer since BH was a youthful 58 then, but if it is any guide this should be memorable.

Anyway, the excellent Steve Knightly is ,somewhat amazingly, playing at our village hall in September, about 100 yards up the road. We have our tickets.

And I think I'll probably take in this one at the RFH, though I haven't booked yet.

Well it will be pay at the door, rather than already having the ticket, but again Schubert D960, but this time with the Violin Sonata and Feldman's "Palais de mari". Mark Knoop will be the pianist.
