Hope nobody's got tickets to go and hear Daniil Trifonov in the immediate future....

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

This looks well outside the usual remit of the OAE but, remembering the superb Rattle Rheingold at the 2004 Proms, I find myself intrigued. Anyone else got tickets for this?
Yes! I do. Though I have never really got on with Mahler. Maybe this performance will persuade me otherwise.

Just booked for my annual visit to the East Neuk Festival. The Pavel Haas Quartet, a Mendelssohn cycle with the Calidore Quartet, Christian Zacharias playing Schumann, including the Piano Quintet with the Calidore. Also the SCO conducted by Zacharias in the "Tattie Barn". Based in the delightful little town of Crail, clustering around its historic harbour at the base of the cliffs.

I was at Wigmore Hall on Sunday night when he played despite the wrist injury ( which was not known to the audience at the time ) It was a two pianos concert with Sergei Babayan and I did think that it appeared Babayan was leading the performance but put it down to Trifonov being generous to his teacher ! No sense of disappointment though.

Thanks ARB!! This has quite made my day. This screening of "Napoleon" had somehow passed me by. Because of the copyright issues with Coppola, I had been seriously worried that we would not hear the Davis score again. So this is completely marvellous news. I went straightway to book tickets.

Very tempting, and some reasonable priced tickets to boot.

Think I might try to take this one in.

I imagine that is just a part of the fun.

I feared as much. Still, it's such a great piece and it isn't performed very often, I wouldn't miss it if I were in town.

The trick may well be to avoid the visuals.
Good thought....the same seat I had for the Rattle/ Hannigan concert last year might be good. Cheap, and a view of almost nothing except the back of the double basses .

Despite RBs misgivings, I have booked up for the Dudamel Canyons at the Barbican.
And, a neat trick, I bought a ticket for TS Jnr#3 for £5 as a Barbican Junior Member ,which was free to join, and also didn't have to pay a booking fee as I booked both tickets in her account.:

I Wonder if she actually wants to go ?
                            £20 for both tix.

No worries, I'm really just going for the "live visuals, "and we'll probably tank up in a 'spoons somewhere around Liverpool street.

But thanks for your concerns, and professional opinion. Much appreciated .....

( does simon have to buy his own beer?)
