    Schumann VC/ Symphony 3.
    OAE and Pat Kop( if fit to play) at the Anvil, Feb 4.

    Figaro. WNO at the Mayflower in Southampton in March.

      Haven't currently got any concerts booked to look forward to....

        Anyhow,looks v tempting .

        re not having anything booked up, i don't suppose there is much on in London over the next few months....

                      Sunday 3 pm - Orchestra of WNO in Cardiff St Davids Hall - Strauss Don Juan, then 4LS and Mahler 4 both with Rebecca Evans, cond. Lothar Koenigs. I first saw Rebecca Evans 20 years ago as Susanna and then as Sophie in Der R.

                        I have a ticket for the Simon Bolivar Orchestra Stravinsky concert next week, though was disappointed to get an email last month saying that Petrushka had been replaced by Firebird on the programme ( Rite of Spring remains for the second half ) Petrushka was my main enticement for booking, though it would have to have been some performance to better that given last year by the LPO and Jurowski.

                          ... which itself didn't quite eclipse the wonderful performance by the Philharmonia under Salonen at the Proms a couple of years back.

                          Sorry to see the programme's changed. I usually try and go to the SBO concerts, but the programmes this time didn't entice me.

                            Just received another email from the South Bank. "At the special request of the orchestra" the programme has reverted back to the original. i.e. Petrushka and not Firebird in the first half.

                              The grinning skull de nos jours and his about-to-be-new band at the Barbican on Wednesday in Ravel, Delage and Dutilleux. The Delage Four Hindu Songs aren't often heard in the context of an orchestral concert (there is a good recording by Janet Baker) and the Dutilleux works (L'Arbre des Songes - with Leonidas Kavakos, a violinist I greatly like - and Métaboles) ought to be right up Sir Simon's street. Rubbish seat but it's better than nothing (and I can always listen to a properly recorded/balanced repeat on i-Player).
