I believe this is the concert you're referring to: http://www.wigmore-hall.org.uk/whats...on-piano-32577

You'll find plenty of British music lovers here. I'm a big fan of Brahms's late clarinet works, so I'll try and tune in for this. Thanks for highlighting it here.

p.s. What a great name - Vikingur Olafsson. Let's hope it's not a case of nominative determinism.
Is going to be educational on here!!

Stanisław Skrowaczewski (90 now!) conducting the LPO in Bruckner 3, on 14th March... Anyone have any views on his conducting and/or qualities as a Brucknerian?

I'd like to get to that. I've only been to one performance of #3 and that was more than 20 years ago. I've never been to a performance of #1 and that's unlikely to change as it's rarely programmed.

A fine Brucknerian indeed. Seek out the recent CD of the Seventh with the LPO if you can't wait till March!

Thanks Alison - will do! I know he had chequered times at the Halle but curious to know if this was a musical or an administrative/management issue?

An interesting set from the Norwegian ambient musician. Always a treat to listen to music in this glorious venue.

Cardiff - Czech Nat SO cond Libor Pesek - Monday 18th November. Schubert 8, Bruch violin concerto ( shame it's not the Fantasy), Tales from the Vienna Woods and Dvorak 7.

A bit of a bums-on-seats programme but I do like hearing Czech music played by Czech orchestras (last season in Cardiff we had the Prague SO and the Czech Phil). Violin solo is Chloë Hanslip.
