What a programme that is! Fantastic. Presumably will include the E minor Bach P&F, and perhaps the Fminor and E flat minor too! I have only just discovered the Mendelssohn, and it's a masterpiece.

It's a leap year, and on 29th Feb I'm off to hear Isabelle Faust in Brahms, and Rattle, LSO, in Shostakovich 4...

The Flying Dutchman at the ROH in March. I'm not sure whether 'excited' would be the right word, though. As a long time Terfel sceptic I still find myself trying to understand what it is about him that so many people find so mesmerising. I fully expect him to shout his way through the part, and for everyone to say how marvellous he was, but I am always open to having my mind changed. I haven't seen this opera live for decades. In fact, the last time I saw it it was sung by Bernd Weikl, who was a late (disappointing) substitute for Terfel, who was supposed to be debuting in the role.
