See you there! Did I also mention previously Arcadi Volodos the week before? http://www.barbican.org.uk/music/eve...l.asp?ID=14404

I had to rearrange my schedule to fit that one in. Volodos, like Lupu, is hard to track down.

Lucky you! I've added Sokolov to my wishlist. Another rara avis.

Yay! Thomas "Y'all roight there, Ted?!" Dausgaard! Tell me if you spot the resemblance, and polish up your Father Dougal impression! You could try a "Careful now Ted!" if he takes the scherzo too fast....

Excitement two weeks ago when we managed to get two tickets for Bayreuth next summer (Tannhäuser) in their first ever online sale. The website was a very slow and not that user-friendly, but after several failed attempts we got there in the end and also booked two nights in a hotel in town. Cost arm and leg but it had to be done. It will turn into a Bavarian holiday, visiting some old friends not far away South of Nürnberg.

Hiya Black Swan, I shall be there too. There are are few of us going down in a car. I'm looking forward to gauging how this the finest orchestra in South America measure up against the world's greatest orchestras.

Beef oven was at the RFH concert last night, where the played some Guarnieri and the Berio Sinfonia. Would love to have been at either. I'm sure the Manchester concert will be fantastic.

Sounds brilliant, gurne - I'm very jealous (in a good way).

That'll be at least four Boardistos there then - if I get bored (unlikely) I can play at trying to guess who everyone might be. Next concert after Wednesday: 12th November, Cleveland Orchestra, Franz W-M, Beethoven 4/DSCH 8 - Salle Pleyel. Stockhausen's 'Trans' at Cité de la Musique sold out the next night so it have to be entrecôte 'n frites instead.

                                Welcome, DougP.

I believe this is the concert you're referring to: http://www.wigmore-hall.org.uk/whats...on-piano-32577

You'll find plenty of British music lovers here. I'm a big fan of Brahms's late clarinet works, so I'll try and tune in for this. Thanks for highlighting it here.

p.s. What a great name - Vikingur Olafsson. Let's hope it's not a case of nominative determinism.
