    Looks ace. Enjoy.

Just realised I have never been to the Electric Ballroom.
    Or the Roundhouse.

    Must sort that out.

I only found out about the gig at 11.30 last night!!!

The "Laibach informbiro" sent out an email yesterday, and towards the end were the gig dates.

Surprised that there was no response to this posting I made a while back, perhaps because I put it in the wrong place?
Very much looking forward to hearing the Shostakovich quartet cycle in one day, but must do some homework first with the scores and recordings I have.

The most excellent Atrium Quartet also undertake similar projects, although nothing in the UK at present.

Sounds like quite an experience , Pulcers. I would be tempted but have tickets elsewhere that day.

Thanks so much for re-posting this. I did miss it the first time. I have now booked - there are lots of seats still available. I spent a couple of months with Wendy Lesser's book and various recordings of these and am excited to be able to hear them all in order and on one day. I have booked two of the Borodin Quartet's performances at Wigmore, but those are spread out and I won't be able to get down from the north to hear all of them. I'm delighted to have an excuse to delve back into all of them.

You're welcome, and thanks for mentioning a book that I didn't know about! Looks like I need to investigate it.

                      In about 20 minutes.

Looking forward to catching up with the David Matthews symphony tomorrow.
( was asked by the security staff if I was in the orchestra. I offered to help out if they were a bit light on numbers.......so watching from the balcony)

New song cycle Fri 8 May, Truro

I'm very much looking forward to a song recital on Fri 8 May, 7.30pm at Mylor Theatre, Truro College, given by rising young baritone Marcus Farnsworth and Iain Burnside. There is good solid fare in Butterworth's Shropshire Lad cycle and Schumann's Dichterliebe Op 48, but the concert also features the premiere of a new song cycle by Cornish composer and teacher Russell Pascoe. It's called Three Masks, One Face and sets English translations of poems by Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935) selected by Professor Anthony Pinching.

Tickets are £15 from Truro 3 Arts on 07599 257833 or truro3arts@gmail.com or from Hall for Cornwall.

If you miss this this first performance, or are simply blown away by it, you have a second chance to catch it at a late-night concert at this year's St Endellion Summer Festival by the same artists!

[I should perhaps declare an interest as a committee member of T3A]
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

RICHARD STRAUSS Dance from Capriccio (1941)
SCHOENBERG Six pieces for piano duet
BERG Hier is friede Op 4 No 5
                            CHAUSSON Chanson Perpetuelle
                            STRAUSS arr. SCHOENBERG Lagunen-Walzer
MAHLER Piano Quartet in A minor
                            SCHOENBERG String Quartet No 2

                            Britten Sinfonia
                            Barbara Hannigan soprano, director

Amazingly, this cornucopia of late romantic luxuriance is being hosted by the Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon, not renowned for its adventurous programming. One hopes for a good turnout but can never be sure in this part of the world. Perhaps the press pics of a scantily clad Ms Hannigan might encourage a few more of Wiltshire's music lovers. http://www.wiltshiremusic.org.uk/whatson/britten-sinf

Currently, a twofer one ticket is being offered - possibly a reflection of slow box office activity?

Marcus Farnsworth has a great voice
and started a festival in his hometown of Southwell for those a bit further north
