    Wow thank you for those, ammy

    Those Gresham College lecture series are an amazing ornament to life in the City, which I no longer take as much advantage of as I should. Until 2004, I worked literally just around the corner and the lunchtime and early evening lectures were a regular activity - I remember hearing Joanna McGregor several times, David Owen Norris, David Cairns etc. And all free !

    And Barnard's Inn where most of them take place is a little jewel amid the concrete - a lovely little hall and a cobbled courtyard with a couple of trees - the benches around the tree trunks were a favourite spot for a summer sandwich lunch: suddenly one could have been back in Dickins's day (the din of traffic on Holborn, reduced in the courtyard but still audible, notwithstanding). The whole yard is under scaffolding at the moment for a refurb - should be lovely once it's back to former glories.

      I'm furious to see there's been a series given by Christopher Hogwood during the first half of the year.
      Why 'furious', Caliban? After all, Christopher Hogwood is the current Gresham Professor of Music!
      His next lecture is on October 11th 2013.

        Could have been clearer, I agree! I meant furious with myself for missing them!

              For a brief moment, I thought you said Christopher Isherwood.

              Now that WOULD have been fascinating.
