    UK City of Culture 2013

I thought I would mention this item, as it appears to me to be one of the relatively few 'Radio 3 type' musical events being staged.

Notice the difficulty I have in describing the item; such is the effect of a) participating in this forum, and b) experiencing what culture might be. I used to know what was meant by 'classical music', and by 'culture'. I know that the item in question sounds interesting to me, but whether it will be any 'good' - well let's see how many bums on seats it attracts. Paul Muldoon was on In Tune a few days ago, and whetted my appetite for the project.

It takes place in the newly refurbished Guildhall and I shall be there.

The attached link has further links included.

I see what you mean! It also brings up the question of whether it's a meaningless oxymoron to speak of 'contemporary classical' music. Yet a 'cantata' it must be.

Hope the whole event is proving a success, Padraig.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thank you , ff, though I must confess I am not very much involved.

However, more information is available at this very moment on In Tune, including a chat with Mark-Anthony Turnage.
