The programme was done in the presence of the BBC Phil today. Women players, conductors and composers were discussed. Rather silly in my opinion to get Jenny Murray conducting when she clearly hadn't a clue...but presenters have to have a go at everything, it seems. But everyone seemed to be having fun.
Interesting to hear the first performance of an orchestral piece (Pandora's Veil?) by Alice Mary Smith, an apparently prolific woman composer of the 19th century. It sounded more than just competent, and certainly no worse than some Parry we heard on CotW recently.
