Some lovely Hubert Parry chunks today, including the marvelous Nonet.
Imagine the strange bemused looks from work colleagues when I said I was spending my lunch break sat in my car listening to COTW.

It's on again in a bit folks.

A bit like those lovely moments listening to the FA cup draw on an illicit radio during a physics lesson at 12.30 (?) monday way back when....

the unforgettable moment in 1976 in the semi final draw when the words "Southampton will play... (third division).Crystal Palace" came crackling through..meaning we avoided the red hot man utd and Derby teams.

        (sorry Gurney !)

I have made another request for either Ireland's A Downland Suite and Elgar's Sursum Corda to be played on 3Breakfast.

BBM is our secret weapon, anton - his smooth-talking knows no boundaries as far as Breakfast requests go - go to it young man

What it her who wrote that famous jazz piece 'The Jersey Bounce'?

                        Sorry ladies!

I'll go and watch the cricket.
Hmm, perhaps that would be best HS. This thread is taken very seriously - let's hope more GOOD British music is broadcast in future.

Totally agree, Saly. I have deleted the offending post.

But why should it be neccesary to devote one month to British Music, other than to admit that Radio 3 neglects it for the rest of the year?

Perhaps with listeners' reponses, Radio 3 could take notice and maybe broadcasst more rarities other than The Larks!?!!?

Yes Rob, it made giving the cooker a 'deep' clean into easy work with that atmospheric music. I feel guilty about Bridge as we had many works in old brown paper parcels in the hire library at Augener. I looked after what WAS ordered, Bridge wasn't really my problem but thankfully BB rescued some pieces and Faber Music published them. Bridge is certainly underplayed and underrated IMHO.
