    ahem.

If by simply sharing my enthusiasm for British music on this forum has made the powers that be sit up and take notice, then I'm happy.

Thanks too to Beef Oven for starting the neglected Brits thread and to your good self for the listeners recommendations.

I don't want to take the wind out of your sails, but could it possibly be something to do with the anniversary of a certain coronation? If so it would be interesting to hear music which was written or performed in or about 1953 and has been unheard since.

In addition, there are many 20th / 21st century British pieces which haven't been performed or broadcast that could be given an airing, such as Arnold Cooke's 6th symphony (not performed), Arthur Butterworth's 6th and 7th symphonies (not broadcast), but it's probably too late for anyone to do anything about it now ...

Andrew Slayewr ios right, actually. Last year was the Queen's diamond Jubilee for the acession on the throne but this year, is the anniversary of her Coronation in 1953.

Sir Arthur Bliss composed a march for it?

ah, but you are quite right AG.
That is what it is all about. Connections. passing things on, sharing them.Like freecycle, but with music. It costs us nothing to share music.
We can't trust others ( at the top) to do the right thing, (though they might) so we must do what we can . Sow the seeds....

OK all you fans of British Music, here's a plan.Anton has created his list of British music suggestions.made by you. I suggest that we all contribute your Top Ten Short British Pieces for inclusion in playlist progs like Breakfast. Anton has offered to collate. Then BBM and other twitter-aficionados can inundate the Radio 3 twiitwersphere with requests for a month.

If you've never twittered or facebooked, why not drop BBM, our Master of the Twittersphere, and seek his advice on how to, dos and don'ts, etc.

And remember, this is our chance to raise the profile both of British music AND FOR3 with Radio Three presenters and producers.

                          Let's be British out there!
