I don't think I did use the word, but I am aware than in BBC speak it carries heavy nuances.

Strictly speaking, talent refers to the people themselves. 'Top talent' means presenters who are able to attract big audiences which are commercially valuable to advertisers, hence they attract inflated salaries because of the competition to get them. For the BBC, just attracting a big audience is enough: Moyles, Evans, Ross &c.

Each copy gets ready by, say, 2 people. Getting on for 10 per cent of the population. Then add in those who only read it on the website. That's a lot of unpleasant people.

Before I met she who is now Mrs Wallace, I used to find it a complete turn off to find out that the woman whom I was "seeing" read the Mail. You called at her place to take her out and found a copy of the Daily Mail on the sofa? What should a gentleman do in such circumstances? The relationship had to be ended and quickly but how? Debrett's guides are silent on the matter.

I find it's quite often left behind on tube trains and in caffs and in cafés and I always make sure I take a look. But what I'd do if the object of my affections was found to be a reader ... well I just shudder to think

Reminds me of a work colleague who, astonished, asked me how it was possible for me never to be attracted to right-wing women. Simple, was my answer: firstly I might be attracted to them; then, when I find out they are right-wing, I am unattracted.
