Ah, also apols to am51.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Pleased to have made you happy, vinrosé ! I'm sure Mr Heffer would share similar sentiments.
Re repeats: I looked hard, no sign of the dreaded (R)...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

And by coincidence I was listening to a CD of Gerald Finzi's songs when I read your post ("Let us garlands bring" on Naxos). Fatty introduced me to Finzi's songs when he played "By footpath and by stile".
Radio 3 does however have to spoil it with the web page . Union Jack bow tie. Ugh! Who at the BBC decides these things?

I bet SH avoids discussing Breakfast &c. with RW - given what he (SH) has written about Classic FM. A job's a job, after all, and he gets slots on The Essay too..It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
