I think you all need a Suppe piece - 'the man through whose overtures no-one sleeps' - to keep you wide awake.

Never fallen asleep to music in all my life.

This occasionally happens when I try to listen, thirsting for tunes after a hard day - and I hate it. I come round feeling heavily hungover, have to stop listening AND start thinking about cooking dinner. Awful. Try to avoid it if I can.

When insomnia's a problem it's a strange opposite. Coming down, blearily, at say, 0500 or 0630, if I listen then I seem to hear everything more clearly and freshly than before - the musical side of my brain is more responsive despite my sleepiness. In the summer I almost look forward to it. (And now I can't find my usual Valerian preparation I'd BETTER get used to it...)

sorry I can't contribute on topic, but I can contribute anti-topic, and that is, what you should definitely avoid listening to when going to sleep.

My conclusion from a recent experiment is that, First Movement, 4th Symphony of Tchaikovsky (Peter) is ideal for saying goodbye to the Forty Winks,
