I found this, which seems to be a more authentic version of Ponchielli's Trumpet Concerto in F, Op 123 than some cut down versions - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9jwEUXsQKM However, it would not seem to be fully authentic, as determined from the original score and first performances, as there were no flutes, oboes or bassoons originally.
This - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIyeMv0z2aQ - which is played by a large band (even larger), plus lower strings, is not so authentic, at least as determined by the band playing at the first performance which did not have flutes, oboes etc., and probably did not have so many of each instrument. I don't know if there were any strings originally.
It's an odd piece, which sort of grows on one with repeated listening. I should check out the Op 198 concerto in E flat too. Any videos available?
